FABBA SHOW

The FABBA Show last Saturday night was a huge success with 150 members and guests enjoying the night.  A big thank you must go to our staff who looked after us on the night.

RULES NIGHT

Thank you to the 30 members who attended our recent Rules Night presented by Andrew Robb Andrew Robb is the Manager of Rules & Handicapping at Golf NSW.  The numbers on the night were disappointing, but the session was professionally filmed and we will look to making the video available on our website in both English and Korean.

SALES OFFICE CONSTRUCTION

Construction of the on-site sales office is scheduled to commence next week. This marks another important milestone in the broader development project. As works begin, members are advised that areas of the practice fairway will begin to be impacted as the site is established. While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, we appreciate your understanding as adjustments to practice access may be required throughout the build period. Updates will be provided as works progress.

Winter is officially here and we will return to shotgun tee times beginning June 7.  Again, I remind you that your place in the field is behind the group in front, not in front of the group behind.  For those of you playing in the morning wave, don’t forget that you can pre-register on Friday afternoons.

At the time of writing our Master Pennant team have staged another away coup. They beat Ryde Parramatta 5 matches to 3.  This is the second away win for the season after Adrian Welsh clutched our away victory at Eastlake a few weeks ago.  Keep up the great play team!

The first round of the reformatted Match play championship has been completed. Congratulations to all who won their matches.

Now that our D.A. has been approved we will begin to change the course in the coming weeks.  This will see the introduction of the first of our 3 temporary courses that are to be played.  It also means that there will be some changes to the rating of certain holes. I am confident that we have found the right balance with the new ratings but won’t know for certain until we have playing data.  During this time, I would ask you all to be mindful of any areas that are under construction.

Congratulations to the following players who have been selected to represent Cumberland in Upcoming Pennant seasons.

Best of luck in the upcomings season.

Keep up the great golf!

As we move into the winter season, conditions on the course have been significantly impacted by recent weather. May brought a substantial rainfall in excess of 200mm, including a concentrated 123mm over just two days—last Thursday and Friday.

The dams across the course are currently at high capacity as a result. The dams on the 2nd and 12th holes are both sitting at above 95% capacity, while the 5th hole dam is also at 95%.

We are pleased to confirm that the Course Enabling Works are expected to commence in the coming weeks. These works form a critical component of the club’s long-term masterplan and include the construction of four new holes. Based on expert industry guidance, the full CEW program is projected to take approximately 12 months from commencement. This timeline includes both the construction phase and the necessary grow-in period required before the new holes can be brought into play.

The four new temporary holes included in the CEW project have now been officially rated by Golf NSW and the tempoary course ratings have been uploaded into the MiClub system ready for competition play.

The Development Approval had a number of specific clauses pertaining to the granting of the Construction Certificate, which had multiple implications over numerous parts of the entire development.

The Club has been working closely with consultants, certifiers, and local authorities to ensure full compliance with these clauses. This has required careful sequencing and additional planning to address items related to environmental management, traffic, stormwater, and structural design.

We are confident that these conditions are being effectively managed and will not delay the overall timeline for the CEW or subsequent stages of the development.

Regular updates will continue to be provided as work progresses.

Despite this months horrible wet weather, we were able to get the Ladies Foursomes Championship surprisingly completed on time and without the need for rescheduling. Thank you to all the ladies who competed this year and battled the horrendous round 2 elements.

Congratulations to our Foursomes Champions, Eunmi Pyun and Sally Son with fabulous rounds of 82 and 85 and Bronze I Foursomes Champions, Lisa Kim and Gyeongmi Han with consistently good rounds of 103 and 103.

Congratulations also to Liz Kim on taking out the Fay Spears Mothers’ Day trophy this year with 42 points on 6/5/25.

Our Northern Districts Bronze II pennant team have started the season on fire, winning their first match 4.5 to .5 against North Ryde at Asquith.

The second match was a washout, so points were halved by all teams, and round three was a bye for Cumberland. Round 4 on Friday 6/6 will be at Killara against Long Reef. Good luck Team Cumberland!

Upcoming Events

. Chick of the Walk Matchplay following on from the qualifying round on 3/6

. President’s vs Captain’s trophy on 10/6 (Singles Par)

. Christmas in July Open Day on 15/7 (Shotgun start- Ambrose)

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank Maria Golden, Anne Carr, Allison Maguire and Tricia Johnston for their assistance in marshalling, and welcoming and tending to the visiting teams for the Bronze II pennant host day on 30/5.

Good golfing!

Welcome to Winter!  With everything from winter gloves, beanies, jumpers, pants and everything else you need to survive on the course in the winter chill, as always Banners Golf have got you covered.

We have certainly seen the rain move through and this is our chance to check all the equipment we use in the most testing of conditions.  Keeping as much dry as possible is both an advantage on the course and just makes the round a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.  Come instore this month and let us go through your equipment with a fine-tooth comb and identify anything we believe might be hurting your golfing experience.

Instore NOW we have the Footjoy full range available to fit.  Time to throw away those old leaking shoes and enjoy the comfort of dry socks for the whole round.  With fully waterproof options for every foot, now is the time to stop the rot and do your feet the big favour.

Keep an eye out later this month for our HUGE Putter Demo Day. With Scotty Cameron, Odyssey, Taylormade and Mizuno already locked in this will be massive.  Friday the 27th is your chance to Demo all the putters from these brands and get you making more putts. Book In or just turn up on the day …

June will also see the US Open return to Oakmont.  Can Bryson back up his historic win last year or will someone else throw their hat in the ring?  Keep an eye out for our US Open competition.
